Club Brennan, Inc has contracted the services of Delaware Aquatic Management, Inc to manage our facilities. They hire the lifeguards that will staff our pool. You can print up their application for employment found on this site and mail it to address provided on application. D.A.M. has organized training for their guards through Newark Parks and Recreation. You may chose to train elsewhere, but it is recommended that you go through them since it certifies you for 3 yrs. The information can be found below.
Lifeguard training that is offered through Newark Parks and Recreation will be on April 29th – May 2nd. It is from 4-9 Thursday and Friday and 8am-7pm Saturday and Sunday. The cost is $249 if you are a resident of Newark and $278 if you are not.
Interested people should go to the Newark Parks and Recreation website and fill out the paperwork. Click on the link ‘Registraion Forms’ and print it up. Fill it out and put #2324-100 for ‘Activity Number’. They accept checks, cash, MC, and Visa. If you include your email address they will send you verification of receipt.

Are you or someone you know looking for a good paying job over the summer? Th e City of Newark and the University of Delaware are jointly off ering this lifeguard course to the public. Anyone (up to six individuals) completing the course and who works for the City of Newark pools during the summer will be reimbursed for the full cost of the course at the conclusion of the 2010 summer season.
This class prepares lifeguard candidates in the skills and knowledge necessary to respond to aquatic emergencies, including CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and preventing disease transmission with a focus on decision-making, escape techniques, and backboard techniques.
Participants must be 15 years of age before the last scheduled day of the course. Students must successfully complete the following:
• Swim 300 yards continuously.
• Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using front crawl or breast stroke, surface dive 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10 pound object, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object above water and exit the water without using a ladder or steps, within 1 minute, 40 seconds.
This class provides American Red Cross certifi cation in CPR, First Aid and Lifeguarding. Each registrant must purchase the Red Cross textbook “Lifeguarding” (copies are available through our offi ce for $40) and bring it to class the first day.
